WHO WE ARE

The Tacoma Kateri Circle is a group consisting of parish members who try to emulate the life of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, a Mohawk Indian girl who is canonized in the Catholic Church.

Our church, St Leo's, is a Catholic community centered in the Eucharist, enriched by diversity, committed to Gospel values, and continually seeking to be Christ's servant presence in the world.

Kateri Circles both adult and youth exist under the auspices of the Tekakwitha Conference.

Our priest, who has since moved on to relocate to California, was Fr. Patrick Twohy, a Jesuit priest who has lived with and served the Native Peoples of the Pacific Northwest for over 40 years. He has lived with the Swinomish and Tulalip Tribes of the Coast Salish Peoples for the past 25 years, and with the Colville Confederated Tribes in Eastern Washington State from 1973 to 1984.
